Dealing with stress and anxiety can make you feel restless or agitated. As someone who struggles with general anxiety disorder and depression, I often find it difficult to relax. As the nights are now getting darker and colder, going for a walk isn’t something I’m drawn to. As an alternative, I’ve been playing online games to keep my mind stimulated, and I’ve found it pretty relaxing.
The Best Online Games for Stress Relief
There are several gaming sites you can use to aid stress relief. Brain teasers, in particular, are helpful. Not only do these types of games stimulate your brain, but they can also help to increase your focus and concentration. If you suffer from anxiety or stress, you may find that you have a lack of concentration. It’s actually well-known that stressful situations can cause a lack of focus and memory, making even the most simple of tasks challenging.
Mental health charity, Mind, have acknowledged that online games can aid the alleviation of stress and anxiety. With that in mind, I’ve been using a website called Plays which provides around a thousand online games with new games added weekly. They offer an extensive selection of games – from kids games to online board games and puzzles. What drew me to this website was the fact that all games can be played via the online site. You don’t need to download any software first so it’s not going to make your laptop run slower. The site itself is easy to navigate and use. The games are all labelled out so once you find something you want to play, you simply click on the link.
Each game has an easy-to-understand set of instructions. The games I play are all relatively straightforward but if you want to play with a child, it’s effortless to do so. Brain teasers like ‘Waffle Word Search’ and the ‘Halloween Crossword’ are my go-to. These games are more challenging than they first appear, so they do put your mind to the test.
Another game I enjoy playing is ‘Find the Pug’. This is a ‘Where’s Wally’ style of game, where you have to find the hidden pug amongst a collection of other dogs. I thought this would be too easy. However, you have a time limit which adds a harder twist to it. As I’m competitive with myself, I’m currently trying to get through more levels!
If you don’t find brain teasers that exciting, there are some fun games to participate in – hello, ‘Super Spice Dash’. I’ve never seen a chicken nugget game before, and you can bet I’m gonna have a go of this one!
I’d definitely recommend having a try at online browser games if you’re currently dealing with stress in your life. It’s not just for kids, and it’s a great way to relax for an hour or two in the evening!
